The Advertising Manager for University Media Sales Group (UMSG) is a three- quarter position hired and su- pervised by the Business and Advertising Director of the Student Media Council at the University of Utah. This posi- tion will be responsible for specific aspects of the day- to-day operations of UMSG as follows: Sales: Responsi- ble for sales regarding specif- ic sponsorship and digital products. Supervision and Management: Supervise stu- dent sales executives in their work and help develop sales and marketing skills through training, shadow calls, sales logs and other necessary methods and duties as as- signed. This is a Temporary position. The position will be compensated through direct commission of personal sales and an override commission of all sales to be agreed up- on. Responsibilities Fore- casts, develops and imple- ments policies and proce- dures in the areas of cus- tomer service, human re- sources and budgetary goals and objectives that are con- sistent with University of Utah's policies. Markets and promotes new and existing programs and services to in- ternal and external cus- tomers. Participates in Uni- versity-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies. Facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships. Ensures cus- tomer satisfaction by analyz- ing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through. Develops departmental strategies consistent with the assigned departments contin- uous quality improvement program. Ensures competen- cy of staff through the devel- opment and/or presentation of educational programs and through on going staff perfor- mance evaluations. Minimum Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree in a relat- ed area of assignment or equivalency and four years of progressively more responsi- ble management experience. Background knowledge of as- signed departments area of specialization in order to ana- lyze, plan and draw conclu- sions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effec- tively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of de- partment. Completion of pro- vided supervisory training within one year of employ- ment may be required. Mas- ters degree in a related area may be preferred.
